How to Manage Your House Project

Building a house is a massive undertaking. From planning to moving in, it takes a lot of research, dreams and time. The best way to ensure the success of your House project is by hiring a team of trustworthy professionals who can manage timelines and budgets with ease. Choosing the right builder will also allow you to stay in constant communication with your builders so they can alert you to any issues that may arise during the process.

Before the construction begins, you will meet with your builder for a pre-construction meeting. During this meeting, you will go over the specifications of your new home to make sure that every detail is accounted for in the plans. This meeting is a good time to ask questions and address any changes you would like to see in your house design.

Your builder will help you select the perfect floor plan for your lifestyle, and then will guide you through the various options available for materials, colors, finishes and more. It is important to remember that what you want plays just as big of a role in the quality of your home as what you need does. This is the time to be sure that you are incorporating your dream features into your plans, and don’t be afraid to add things like a fireplace or custom cabinets that will increase the price of your home.

Once the foundation is poured, your builder will begin framing your house. During this stage, you will start to see your vision for the house come to life. The studs, roof joists and other structural elements will be installed. This stage can take three to four weeks.

While the framers are working on your house, you will begin to install heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical systems. You will also be adding insulation and affixing drywall. The installation of doors and windows will occur during this stage as well.

At this point, you will have a fairly accurate timeline of how long it will take your builder to complete the job. However, it is a good idea to add on an extra month for any unexpected issues that may arise during the construction process.

When you are ready to move in, you will meet with your builder again for a walk-through of your home. The final walk-through is a great time to check that everything has been done to your satisfaction. It is also the ideal time to address any outstanding issues that you may have, such as a gouge in your countertop that occurred before you moved in. Your builder will be able to resolve these issues in a timely manner.
